等了近兩年開發代號為Etch的Debian GNU/Linux 4.0終於推出了。為了慶祝4.0的正式誕生，Debian HK招集Debian愛好者在2007年4月15日(週日) 下午三時正在九龍塘又一城的麥當勞餐廳聚在一起搞個小型慶祝活動。我們在3:15pm至4:30pm 左右將會有一個簡單的Debian簡介(以廣東話) ，稍後我們可能會因應到場的人數，決定是否轉換場地。

This is my second Java installation artical for Debian HK .

To help other Debain user to install Java SDK 1.5. in Debian Testing quickly, Here is my summary steps to install Java SDK 1.5. in Debain testing :

1. Make sure that the contrib section is included in your APT sources ( /etc/apt/sources.list ).

Example: (your may differ a bit, but make sure the contrib part is there)

deb http://ftp.hk.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free

2. Create a directory ( for example : tempfile) to hold the java files,

3. Download Java SDK or run time 1.5 from Sun Website to that directory.

Foka and Geoffrey is in Hong Kong now and let have a meetup. Thanks SWP to lend a room to us. We may have Internet access, feel free to bring your notebook computer. We set the main topic of this Cafe Meetp as "Chinese of Debian" and intend to talk about the chinese issue of Debian during the meetup. But you can also talk about other stuffs as you like when you join us.

We have upgraded to Drupal 4.5.1. Orange Theme and Multilingual feature will be back later. Feel free to report any problem to us.

Foka (Anthony Fok, Debian Developer) will back to Hong Kong from beijing. Geoffrey Lee (Ex-Mandrake Developer) is in HK now and will back to Australia on saturaday night. Therefore, we decide to have a cafe meetup to saturaday afternoon. And all people are welcome to join us for chitchat about Debian, GNU/Linux, OpenSource and have a keysigning party.

I am a new user of Debian in Hong Kong . However , there are not so many discussion on Java running under Debian in HK .

After a lot of search on the Web , I find a way to to install Java on Debian woody easily.

I would like to share this to other Debian users . Such that they can find the way to install and run Java on their Debain. Does not need to spend a lot of time to search the web How to ( like me a poor man ). Any comment to improve the installation are welcome .

During the meetup, I plan to do the following things:

• Brief introduction of DebianHK and collecting comments
• GNUPG Key signing party, bring some hardcopies of your GNUPG key fingerprint if you got it (Here got a short chinese guideline of GNUPG)
• I may bring a notebook with Gnome 2.6 and KDE 3.2 installed (Of course Debian) and let try to discuss the future of OpenSource Desktop.
• chatchit on any topic you find one more person feel interesting

Yup, The site up again. Sorry for my careless and losing the articles data I shutdown the site to recover in these few days. Fortunately, All articles posted before 31 Mar 2004 afternoon can be found in Google cache, we lost only about 1-2 posts as I recall. But it take really long time to recover the data. BTW, it back now and hope that my careless won't piss you off. (We will do backup every half day later)

Basically, you can use the site freely now. I had upgraded the whole site to Drupal 4.4.0. I will change the layout later. You will find that we got an WYSIWYG javascript html textarea editor. I don't know how many people like it or hate it. Feel free to told us and we will decide whether to keep it or not. I disable the wiki filter modules. So, you need to write HTML now. You may find the polls is empty. Indeed, I still keep the result of the old polls. But may be we vote again if you don't mind.
