[問]Questions of Sarge?

After installation of Sarge, I'd like to seek helps from Debian gurus.

1. how to change screen resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768.
I find no way to click.
2. all the chinese cahracters becomes [6c42][5c49]
How can I fix it?

1. As root: dpkg-reconfigure

at boot prompt: I type linux2

at boot prompt: I type linux26

I have installed twice.
I have chosen English and Chinese during installation.
Same result

After submission, I will re-try installation without typing linux26.

Linux is not Windows, reinstall helps you nothing.

Maybe http://www.debian.org/intl/zh/ could help you. But it is pretty old.

2. # apt-get install ttf-arphic-bkai00mp ttf-arphic-bsmi001p
ttf-arphic-gbsn001p

3. Install with linux26 you will use kernel 2.6.8, install with linux you will use kernel 2.4.x

1. type "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" and answer the question
2. following our guide http://wiki.debian.org.hk/w/Make_Debian_support_Chinese
and install the apporiate fonts.
ttf-arphic-uming and ttf-arphic-ukai is recommended instead of ttf-arphic-bsmi00lp
ttf-arphic-bkai00mp, ttf-arphic-gbsn00lp and ttf-arphic-gkai00mp.

Where does the files actually go to ???
I find no downloaded files under /etc/apt
